Web Site Photo Gallery

  • Answered
I would like to add a full featured, but simple to use, photo gallery application to my web server. In Fantastico there are three open source photo gallery applications, which are 4images, Coppermine, and Gallery. I tried to install Gallery but after two weeks of going back and forth with both Gallery forums and one tech support request through Inmotion, the issue was never resolved. The setting for the php.ini file was in question. The tag needs to be set to open, and according to Inmotion, it is. Which brought me back full circle and never being able to install the application and a waste of two weeks effort.

I just want something I can install and start putting up photo galleries without drama and workarounds. I will pay for a license if it means something that will work out of the box. I am also willing to pay a fee for someone to install the application and get it working, if it's so complicated.

Hello Marlow,

I am unable to recommend a gallery software based on my personal experience, but do know that the Coppermine Gallery is one of the more popular ones. I do not know of any hangups with getting it installed, and as it is in the Fantastico, you would not have the pain of a manual install.

Each program, however, is different so you may want to research different photo gallery software using your preferred search engine. Things like update frequency, stability, forum support, and features vary so be sure to find the one that fits you best.

If you happen to find one that is not in the Fantastico list, we will certainly try to help with as much instruction as possible regarding any questions you have.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or information specific to the issue please leave a comment below so we can further assist you.

Best Regards,
